Lieutenant Caldwell was the leader of the group of Theramore Isle soldiers in Dustwallow Marsh who was sent by Captain Garran Vimes to deal with the deserters at Lost Point and to find Paval Reethe.[1] Accompanied by Private Hallan and Theramore Skirmishers, upon witnessing Reethe with the presence of the Horde, Caldwell ordered the deaths of all.[2]

However, the fact that Caldwell ordered Paval killed instead of letting him stand trial may suggest that Paval may have known something about Caldwell that the latter wanted to remain secret. Whatever Caldwell may have been involved in will likely remain a mystery, as he was slain in the ensuing skirmish with Paval and two Horde agents who came to question him regarding the missing supplies in the Brackenwall Village and the burning of the Shady Rest Inn.
