Early API changes were communicated on the official World of Warcraft forums. Blizzard employee slouken interacted with addon developers such as Community MVP Iriel who consolidated many changes into summary posts on the forums.
This activity peaked between Patches 1.9.0 and 2.0.1 as cornerstones of the Lua API were built, such as CreateFrame(). The earlier API was limited to XML elements like <Frame>. Iriel continued summarizing the API changes until at least 3.0.2, but slouken's participation in the forums became more sporadic prior to his departure from Blizzard Entertainment in 2011.
Although the original forums have been taken down, blue post tracking websites like BlueTracker archived substantial parts of these threads because slouken was a Blizzard employee. Some of Iriel's posts were also transcribed to early forms of Wowpedia. These are retained for historical purposes because they document this early development of the WoW API.
