Objectives[]

Anima Wyrm (Crucible)

The Anima Wyrm

Begin your journey to Zereth Mortis by mounting the anima wyrm.

Description[]

The path to Zereth Mortis is open.

We must part ways here. The Eternal Ones are forbidden from returning to the place of our creation. Zovaal has defied the most sacred laws of the Progenitors.

You must undertake this journey alone.

Go. Find a foothold in Zereth Mortis so that we can send the covenant forces through.

Then we will pursue the Jailer and end his madness.

Rewards[]

You will receive:

Completion[]

This... certainly is not Oribos.

Notes[]

On accept:

The Primus says: Through that gateway lies Zereth Mortis. The realm of the First Ones... and the very heart of the Shadowlands.
The Primus says: It is a sacred place forbidden to outsiders--even the pantheon[sic] of Death. But we cannot allow the Jailer to breach the Sepulcher.
The Primus says: The journey may be perilous, but I know you will face whatever danger comes.
The Primus says: When you arrive, send word and our covenant forces will follow. Good luck, Maw Walker.
The Primus says: The gateway is open. Take the anima wyrm and ride through it.

The Primus has some gossip:

We must stop Zovaal's madness. Everything depends upon it.
A Hasty Voyage - Dreadlord revealed

The dreadlord revealed

As soon as the player mounts the Anima Wyrm, Pelagos runs up to them.

Pelagos yells: Wait!
Kleia says: Pelagos! What are you doing!?
Pelagos says: Primus, I ask to join the Maw Walker on this journey into the unknown.
The Primus says: The Archon would be proud. Go with my blessing.
Pelagos hops up on the wyrm behind the Maw Walker.
Attendant Functionary says: All your preparation... for nothing!
The Primus says: Nathrezim!
The functionary floats toward the center of the platform.
Attendant Functionary says: Arise, Mawsworn! Destroy them all!
Numerous Mawsworn kyrian appear, flying up from the Maw below to fill the skies above the Crucible, while bits of Maw energy begin peppering the platform. The functionary reveals her true form as a Dreadlord Infiltrator. The Primus and the covenant forces begin fighting her while the wyrm takes off.
The Primus says: Ride the wyrm into battle! Hurry!

The player is placed in a single-player scenario.

Path of the Primus[]

A Hasty Voyage - air battle

The air battle

Defeat the Mawsworn Invaders swarming the Arbiter's chamber.
  • Mawsworn forces defeated (0/100%)

The wyrm begins flying in a wide circle through the sky, which is filled by Mawsworn Wardens, Soulseekers, and Winged Soul Eaters (ridden by untargetable Mawsworn) which all rapidly attack the wyrm, steadily chipping away at its health. However, it can't actually be reduced below 1 health.

The Primus says: Maw Walker! I will lend you my power to destroy these invaders!

The player gains access to two vehicle abilities:

  1. Spell necro deathall Blast of Decay — Inflict Shadow damage to a nearby target. Each cast of Blast of Decay has a chance to trigger a Spell necro deathrift Necrotic Surge. 0.5 sec cast.
  2. Spell necro deathrift Necrotic Barrage (Channeled) — Throw an overwhelming barrage of projectiles at nearby targets, inflicting Shadow damage. Requires Spell necro deathrift Necrotic Surge. 4 sec cooldown.
A Hasty Voyage - Chained wyrm

The Mawsworn chaining the wyrm

Spam Blast of Decay (which doesn't require targeting) and use Necrotic Barrage whenever available to fill the bar. Once the bar has been filled, two Mawsworn Wardens fly up on either side of the wyrm and latch onto it with chains.

Pelagos yells: Incoming!
Mawsworn Warden says: The Jailer will have his prize!

A third Warden flies up in front of the wyrm and launches and orb of Maw energy at it, triggering a short cutscene of the Maw Walker and Pelagos getting knocked off the mount and falling down toward the Maw. Luckily, they land on a Winged Soul Eater that happens to be passing below them, knocking its unfortunate rider off and taking over the soul eater as their new mount.

Struggle for Control[]

Winged Soul Eater

The Winged Soul Eater

Your mount was slain. You have landed on the back of a Winged Soul Eater. Grab the reins!
  • Winged Soul Eater controlled (0/100%)

The player has three abilities:

  1. Ability kick Kick — Kick the Soul Eater to get its attention.
  2. Ability warrior secondwind Hold Tight! — Hold tightly to the Soul Eater, don't let it shake you!
  3. Inv misc rope 01 Pull the Reins — Pull back on the reins, tiring the Soul Eater a small amount.

Use each ability when prompted by the Soul Eater's behavior. Each correct usage gives 20% progress on the bar.

  • The Soul Eater tries to veer away. Give it a kick in the right direction! (Kick)
  • The Soul Eater tries to shake you off. Hold on tightly! (Hold Tight!)
  • The Soul Eater writhes about. Pull the reins to tire it! (Pull the Reins)

At 100%, it's time for another cutscene:

The Primus, fighting alongside Kleia, disintegrates the Dreadlord Infiltrator with his magic. He looks up at the Maw Walker and Pelagos flying around on the soul eater and notices three Mawsworn kyrian gathering a large orb of Maw energy.
The Primus says: Go through the gateway! Now!
The Maw Walker and Pelagos head for the portal just as the Mawsworn launch the orb. It's a tight race, but they reach and fly through the portal a moment before the missile impacts and disables the gateway. Kleia looks in shock at the place where her soulbind just disappeared, while the Primus shakes his head.
Winged Soul Eater dead

The dead soul eater

On the other side of the cutscene, the player finds themselves on the Path of Inception[23.74, 53.52]VZ-Zereth MortisBlip in Zereth Mortis. The Winged Soul Eater is lying dead on the path in front of them, and Pelagos stands waiting even further ahead into the mist. On approach:

Pelagos says: Maw Walker? Where are you?

PTR version[]

Removed from game The subject of this section has been removed from World of Warcraft.

In early builds, the dialogue at the start was slightly different:

The Primus says: The gateway is open. Take the anima wyrm and ride through it.
Pelagos yells: Wait! The Maw Walker should not face this danger alone.
Kleia says: Pelagos! What are you doing!?
Pelagos says: This noble mortal helped us bring harmony to Bastion, and fought against the Jailer in Korthia.
Pelagos says: Primus, I ask to join the Maw Walker on this journey into the unknown.
The Primus says: You show great courage, Pelagos. The Archon would be proud. Go with my blessing.
Attendant Functionary says: All your preparation... for nothing!
The Primus says: Nathrezim! The foul handiwork of the traitor Denathrius!
Attendant Functionary says: Arise, Mawsworn! Destroy them all!
Kleia says: Oh no. Pelagos!
The Primus says: Ride the wyrm into battle! Hurry!

Additionally, there was some more dialogue in the scene when the Anima Wyrm is chained by the Mawsworn:

Pelagos yells: Incoming!
Mawsworn Warden says: The Jailer will have his prize!
Mawsworn Deathguard says: The Jailer shall be triumphant!
Pelagos yells: Quickly, grab the reins!
