A Mage's Robes | |
---|---|
Level range | 26 |
There are two separate but parallel quest chains, one for Alliance mages, one for Horde mages. They both result in the mage getting an uncommon quality chest item.
Alliance[]
Jennea Cannon, a Mage Trainer in Stormwind City tells you that High Sorcerer Andromath, one of the most powerful mages outside of Dalaran, has asked to speak with you.
Curiousity compels you to ascent the Wizard's Sanctum and speak with him. It turns out that Morganth, another mage, was corrupted by his studies of the dark arts. When he was banished, he took a powerful book with him. The mages of stormwind want that book back.
And so, you travel to the Tower of Ilgalar in the Redridge Mountains. The book, you find, is on one of the many shelves in Morganth's library. Book in hand, you return to Andromath.
- [26] Pristine Spider Silk
The high sorceror is quite pleased that Morganth was unable to overcome the wards on the book, and wants to reward you. He sets you off to the forests of Duskwood, to retrieve pristine spider silk suitable for an enchanted robe.
- [26] Astral Knot Garment
Some time later, with numerous half-healed spider bites, you take the silk to Wynne Larson at larson Clothiers in Stormwind. While you wait, she fashions the silk into a fine robe (or perhaps blouse).
Horde[]
- [26] Speak with Deino
Anastasia Hartwell, Mage Trainer in the Magic Quarter in Undercity notifies you that the troll mage Deino in Orgrimmar has asked for your help.
- [26] Waters of Xavian
Deino makes you an offer: in exchange for fetching a flask of water from the waters of Xavian (a ruin in Ashenvale), he will arrange for a new robe to be made for you.
Xavian, it turns out, has satyrs inhabiting it now, and they don't much like intruders. Still, you manage to slip in, grab a sample of their water from the pool at the bottom of a waterfall, and slip back out without a great deal of difficulty.
- Note: the waterfall you sought was the northerly one of a pair. [76, 41]
- [26] Laughing Sisters
You return with the flask of water, and Deino keeps his end of the bargain. However, first you need to go get the materials for the robe. (Didn't think it would be easy, now, did you?) Your new robe is to be made of dryad hair from the Laughing Sisters near Raynewood Retreat in Ashenvale.
- [26] Nether-lace Garment
You kill a number of the dryads, and take their hair to Kil'hala, a troll tailor at the Crossroads in The Barrens. After a short wait, he hands you a comfortable and durable robe (or tunic).
