Abercrombie is a human quest giver located at Beggar's Haunt, northwest up the road from Darkshire in the human-aligned territory of Duskwood. Originally, he was just northeast of Raven Hill Cemetery. He is a hermit who is also known as the Embalmer.

He was a kindly alchemist and citizen of Raven Hill. He was driven mad by the death of his wife, Eliza. To restore her, he used dark magic to place his own heart within the bosom of his dead spouse. This revived Eliza, but it cursed her with a hunger for human flesh, forcing the Embalmer to keep her buried. His heart is his power. Through a series of quests, unsuspecting adventurers aid Abercrombie in creating the horrible abomination Stitches. He and Stitches then attack Darkshire and are put down by the Night Watch and Alliance adventurers.

The story of the Embalmer is retold as a children's story in Darkshire.[1]

Legion This section concerns content related to Legion.

Abercrombie survived his encounter in Darkshire, and during the Burning Legion's third invasion he sent Stitches Jr. Jr. to Dalaran.[2]

  • The name of the character, along with the name of the abomination he creates, is a reference to the American apparel chain Abercrombie and Fitch.
  • In 1940 a jazz pianist Fats Waller wrote a song named "Abercrombie Had a Zombie". The song can be heard on the disk "Fats Waller. 1940-41"
