Alodi's cube has been in possession of the Kirin Tor for ages. It is located in the Violet Citadel's prison level. When Khadgar traveled to Karazhan and its library, a visage pointed to a book and then quickly vanished. Khadgar took the book with him, and when he later opened it, he found that it described the creation of the Dark Portal, and on one of the pages was written "Ask Alodi". Khadgar thus went to Dalaran and demanded audience with Alodi from the Council of Six. Antonidas explained him that Alodi was an entity from a time before the Kirin Tor existed. They thought that it served a role similar to that of the Guardian. Its existence was kept a secret and only the arch-council knew about it. When the two mages approached the cube, it opened, a thing that hadn't happened before. Khadgar entered it and Alodi told him the secret about Guardian Medivh, the fel and the orcs.[1][2]
