The Alterac crisis was the dispute — which threatened to tear the Alliance apart — between the nations of Lordaeron, Gilneas, Kul Tiras, and Stromgarde on what should happen to the nation of Alterac and its lands.[1] King Thoras wanted Alterac split in two between Lordaeron and Stromgarde. King Terenas supported Prince Aliden's claim to the throne. On the other hand, King Genn supported Prince Isiden. Admiral Daelin was afraid that Gilnean influence in the region would threaten Kul Tiras' domination of the seas. Deathwing, under the guise of Daval Prestor, manipulated the leaders into making him king of Alterac instead but was forced into hiding after his plans were foiled.
