Aranna Starseeker is the younger sister of Elise Starseeker. They are both night elves, but unlike Elise who pursued druid-priest abilities, Aranna pursued Demon Hunter abilities. She has not yet appeared in World of Warcraft.
In Hearthstone[]
The first hint of Aranna is given a minute and 22 seconds into the Journey to Un’Goro Cinematic Trailer released 27 February 2017 where a younger Night Elf is seen saluting Elise alongside two others - a Blood Elf later revealed to become Varden Dawngrasp and an orc later revealed to be Rokara. Their male companion Guff Runetotem doesn't salute. None of the four children are initially referred to by name.
The child blood elf does not have glasses like Aranna is seen wearing while older, and her blue eyes are of a lighter tone than Elise's, closer to that of a Void Elf.
Aranna is first referenced by name as the playable protagonist heroine of "Trial by Felfire", a single-player campaign released 17 June 2020 (patched in early 12 May 2020) accompanying the "Ashes of Outland" expansion from April 2020. Aranna first appears in her most elf-life form Aranna Starseeker where her "The Right Tool" hero power allowed her to discover cards from her deck. Although she was classified as a Demon Hunter (and already had the green irises in her eyes) her initial deck was formed of a mix of Hunter and Rogue cards.
Aranna initially wore circular-rimmed glasses, much as Elise does, which is still apparent when she pilots a stolen demolisher.
This changed when she became Aranna in Training when her eyes became fully neon green and she stopped wearing glasses. Although she retained the 'right tool' hero power, this transitional period for 3 boss fights began to introduce Demon Hunter cards into her Hunter/Rogue deck. She visibly has begun to grow small horns here.
Her final form in the story Aranna, Unleashed finally replaced her hero power with Combination Strike which resembled that of the base Demon Hunter class in giving attack for 1 mana. This incarnation uses decks which are entirely Demon Hunter class, no longer having Hunter or Rogue ones in the mix. Visually by this point her horns had grown longer, and she is growing with bright green energy.
In the Tavern Brawl "Rumbledome" released 1 July 2020 (patched in early 9 June 2020) a dual-class version of Aranna was introduced, counting as both a Hunter and a Demon Hunter at the same time. She used the same graphic as the "unleashed" form in Trial by Felfire.
The "Mercenaries" game mode introduced in 2021 added her as a blue "Caster" mercenary card which made reference to her musical talents (two abilities: Felodic Intonement and Iambic Pentameter). The artwork for Felodic Intonement was used the following year in her "Songress" skin. It also referenced her sibling relationship (two task tiles: Arguing with Elise and Twisted Sisters, plus task 17's description "Time to show the world who the strongest Starseeker is!") while the graphics progressively show how her form changed throughout Trial by Felfire as she moved away from her sister to become a Demon Hunter.
Aranna has had thirteen battlegrounds skins and nine constructed skins released, showing her in different outfits and themes. Some of them depict her in the past (pre-Trial) in her original Night Elf form wearing her glasses, while others depict her in her later half-Demon form having shed the glasses.
Her introduction as a minion card didn't happen until her Thrill Seeker version was introduced in July 2024's "Perils in Paradise" as a Legendary Demon Hunter minion whose "Tourist" ability allowed Priest cards to be added to the deck. This version of her has glasses and blue eyes, meaning it depicts her prior to her Trial by Felfire and becoming a Demon Hunter. The card text "Aranna, I feel like you only came to this island so you could use the zipline." is implied to be admonishment from a teacher, perhaps Elise, during her time with the Junior Explorers. Her tourism ability is implied to be a link to her sister, who began as a Druid but gradually shifted to become a dual-class Priest by the time of this expansion.
Given that the Demon Hunters' "Metamorphosis" is a transformation they can switch into temporarily, depictions of her without the horns may not necessarily be old ones, but just happen later on when she has regressed and is depicted in casual situations.
