- Melis is a reference to the character Melisandre, a red priestess of the fire god R'hllor, from George R. R. Martin's fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire and its HBO adaptation Game of Thrones. Melis' quote "The night is dark and full of demons" is a reference to "The night is dark and full of terrors", a phrase commonly chanted by followers of R'hllor in the series, while "We must embrace the fires of Azeroth if we hope to see the dawn" appears to be a reference to how red priests will conduct nightly prayers around bonfires in the hopes that R'hllor will bring back the dawn at night's end.
