Ardwynn is a human who guarded the Dark Portal in the Hellfire Peninsula when the forces of Azeroth first emerged on Outland. He and his companions blocked the path for Jorad Mace, citing that he was proclaimed deserter. Jorad asked Ardwynn to be escorted to Lord Irulon Trueblade in order to warn the army about the approaching force of Ragnok Bloodreaver. Ardwynn refused and insisted to tell the information to him so that he could inform his officer about it. Soon, their bickering ended when Irulon and Commander Duron came to them instead.

• While it is not explicitly stated, based on the fact that he wore Lordaeron armor and knew Jorad, he was apparently a member of the Knights of the Silver Hand.
