Avoidance slightly reduces damage taken from area of effect attacks. One of the rare minor attributes added in Warlords of Draenor that may randomly show up on any looted or crafted Warlords-level gear, avoidance acts much like 
[Avoidance] for player pets, but to a much lesser extent.
In Legion, Avoidance exclusively occures on Titan- or Warforged items and is capped at 2.000 (20%).

Patch 7.3.0 (2017-08-29): The Avoidance stat has been reduced in effectiveness by 27% at all levels.
