King Wrynn was the King of Stormwind and the father of Llane Wrynn. He died fighting trolls during their attack on his city roughly 20 years prior to the coming of the Horde. He kept the friendship with the dwarves of Ironforge by trading with Magni Bronzebeard.
History[]
Years ago, King Wrynn led his army against the trolls pushing them all the way into Stranglethorn Vale. For several years the trolls were kept contained.
Years later, they attacked Brightwood. After hearing about a troll attack on a human village from his advisors, he asked Llane for his opinion. While the prince opted for a all-out war, the king ordered to increase guards on the borders and decided that there will be no attacks on the trolls. He also reminded Llane that he shouldn't forget about choosing his future wife. As a result, Llane introduced her to the king, Taria Lothar, with whom he was seeing for some time. The King approved with the choice. Right after the wedding, he got an urgent message. He therefore called the inner circle and informed them that the trolls are preparing for a massive attack. Llane then confessed that he may be the cause of the attack as he along with Anduin Lothar and Medivh had destroyed their temple and warlord in it. As such, the king commanded to prepare for a war and left for Brightwood. He had the Guardian summoned, and although he called Captain Lothar and allowed Llane to share any additional info, the king declared that the Prince would have no part in the battle.
In a camp in Brightwood, with the help of Medivh and his soldiers they fought against the attacking trolls, but the Guardian was bested. The king ordered his to save the mage, retreat and evacuate everyone to Stormwind City. For the following three days the king organized the city defenses and allowed Llane to participate. When the Guardian arrived to Elwynn Forest and destroyed the group attacking the city wall, the King took his personal guard to the outer gate while Llane and Medivh were to retreat to inner wall. Naming his son king, the Llane's father rushed to attack the remaining trolls, locking himself in combat with the deceased Warlord's son who led the troll armies, eventually being impaled on the troll's sword.
The attack was ultimately repelled by Medivh who used fel to destroy the enemies.[1]
