Baron Garithos ruled over lands that bordered Quel'Thalas in what would later become the Eastern Plaguelands. He ruled from the town of Blackwood on the shores of the similarly-named lake.[1]
Death[]
During the Second War, as the Horde invaded Quel'Thalas, a small band of orcs broke off from the main invading force and burned Blackwood to the ground, killing all of its inhabitants in spite of the valorous defense marshaled by Baron Garithos. The baron and most of his family perished defending the homes and lives of their subjects.[1]
Son[]
The only surviving member of the baron's family was his son Othmar, who was fighting for the Alliance in Quel'Thalas at the time. Othmar blamed the elves for the loss of his home and family, believing that they diverted forces away from the defense of humanity. Othmar was awarded his father's title and continued his service in the armies of Lordaeron. He eventually attained the rank of Grand Marshal, largely due to father's reputation and title.[1]
