Belloc Brightblade is a blood elf archaeologist and a member of the Reliquary. He is located in Orgrimmar as an Archaeology trainer and a part of a delegation from Silvermoon City,[1] standing in Grommash Hold.
According to Kaelis Sunsoar, Belloc doesn't like to get his hands dirty.[2] Adarrah is his old associate.[3]
Biography[]
Cataclysm[]
Belloc Brightblade.
Belloc Brightblade plays a role in the Schnottz's Landing questline, plotting to assassinate Commander Schnottz.[citation needed] Adventurers are directed to him after finding an excavation book. He takes the book from the adventurers and sends them off to interact with guests at Schnottz's Landing. Soon after, Belloc Brightblade sends the adventurers to hunt down animals since Schnottz is a skilled leatherworker. Later on, adventurers are sent by Brightblade to gather uniforms for Schnottz's group. Ultimately Schnottz is killed by a bombing caused by Brann Bronzebeard. Afterward, Brightblade mysteriously vanishes.
Landfall[]
Belloc Brightblade is seen leading a large group of Reliquary from Sparkrocket Outpost in the Krasarang Wilds during the Domination Point storyline. He sends some members of the Reliquary into an ancient mogu mine. Brightblade tasks adventurers with checking up on the operations.
Warlords of Draenor[]
Belloc Brightblade ventures through the Dark Portal into {{Au|[[Draenor|alternate Draenor}} with the Horde. He is in search of an artifact on Ashran and is at odds with Harrison Jones. Brightblade can also be killed as a bonus objective for Alliance adventurers.

Belloc is a part of the Dragonscale Expedition, a joint venture between the Reliquary and Explorer's League. He and his daughter Cymre can be found digging for fossils at Apex Canopy in the Waking Shores. Cymre's pet, Lil' Poshy, took his hat.

In Hearthstone[]
Belloc in Hearthstone.
Belloc appears as one of the bosses that can be encountered in the Tombs of Terror adventure in the Saviors of Uldum expansion for Hearthstone. Unlike in World of Warcraft, he is depicted wearing ornate plate armor; during the boss fight, he explains that his regular white suit is in dry cleaning. This costume is the same one the Realiquary's leader Tae'thelan Bloodwatcher wears.
Trivia[]
- His name and dress sense are likely a reference to René Belloq, the main antagonist from Raiders of the Lost Ark. This also fits with the Alliance Archaeology trainer, Harrison Jones, who himself is a reference to Harrison Ford's role as Indiana Jones.
- Emilia Bellocq is another reference to René Belloq.
- After the quest [30-35] Battlezone is completed, Commander Schnottz's hut is blown up. Belloc mysteriously vanishes, and is the last time he is seen in all of Uldum, arousing suspicions that he planned the bombing. Schnottz then blames the adventurer for attempting to assassinate him. This turn of events is probably inspired by the assassination plot on Hitler in 1944.
- Belloc's daughter, Cymre, does not think particularly highly of his work. She points out that simply taking artifacts without seeking the truth is not "archaeology".
- In the cut Mists of Pandaria beta quest [85] Spies in Our Midst, Nazgrim mentioned that Belloc had provided him with a [Mirror of Truesight].
