Ben Brode was a member of Team 5. He was the game director for Hearthstone,[1] and formerly holding the position of lead designer.
Brode joined Blizzard Entertainment in 2003, and during his tenure has served in numerous roles throughout the company. His first role was as a tester on Warcraft III, followed by a position in quality assurance on World of Warcraft. Before joining the Hearthstone team, Brode was part of Blizzard's creative development department, in charge of licensed products.[2]
Brode plays World of Warcraft,[3] and as of June 2014 his main is a Brewmaster monk.[3] He has also mentioned playing "a lot" of Heroes of the Storm.[4] Brode has all the mounts from the Argent Tournament.[5]
He is referenced in World of Warcraft with Benjamin Brode <Traveling Salesman>, who wanders around players' Garrisons and sells Hearthstone-related toys, and with 
[Tome of the Lost], whose flavor text reads: "The title reads "The Brode to Nowhere"". Ben of the Booming Voice is likely another reference, as Brode is known for his hearty laugh and for sporting a chequered shirt.
He left the company on April 20, 2018.[6]
