Bladespire Citadel (or Bladespire Fortress)[1] is the Bladespire clan capital located in Frostfire Ridge. Later, the Frostwolf Orcs aided by commanders and Thrall are able to conquer the citadel and drive the ogres out. It is built into Blade's Edge Mountain.
History[]
Warlords of Draenor[]
Bladespire Citadel was originally the capital of the ogre clan Bladespire which was part of the Gorian Empire.[2] These ogres often attacked the Frostwolf Orcs. After Ga'nar and Drek'Thar are back from captivity in Frostfire Ridge, Ga'nar rushed to conquer Bladespire Citadel and Durotan joins him with the help of new allies - the Horde.
The first attack leads to Gormaul Tower, leading a "gateway" to enter the fort. After the conquest of the tower, the orc with the Horde enter the center of the fort, while Thrall uses his shamanistic power against ogres. Eventually the fight gets into the whole citadel. On the top of the citadel Ga'nar and the adventurers fought against the king of the ogres. After the king Gorr'thog is killed, Durotan becomes the ruler of Bladespire Citadel.
Before the fall of the citadel, the ogres managed to capture a band of laborers from Frostwall. The fortress was infiltrated by the garrison followers and the workers freed.[3]

Notes and trivia[]
- A map in Chronicle Volume 2 shows that Bladespire Hold was the main universe's equivalent of Bladespire Citadel before Draenor became Outland.[4] The book also states that it was in Frostfire Ridge, supporting the map's placement.[5]
- Bladespire Citadel was originally planned to be the Horde capital city in Draenor, with its Alliance counterpart being Karabor in Shadowmoon Valley, but with the release of the expansion's beta this was scrapped in favor of placing the faction hubs on Ashran. This change triggered some disapproving reactions from a section of the community.[6] A leftover of the original idea is the
[Bladespire Relic] item, which teleports the caster to the citadel.
- In the Warlords of Draenor beta, its name was Bladespire Fortress.
