Blink is a level 4 mage ability.
In lore[]
- The student Aodhan Falamar used blink during his encounter with his uncle, Crevan Falamar.[1]
- During the Burning Legion's third invasion of Azeroth, one large blink spell was used by the Council of Six to teleport Dalaran from above Karazhan to the Broken Isles. According to Emissary Auldbridge, the intensity of the spell can be disorienting and cause a loss of consciousness for a time. Some even wake up to find themselves stuck in walls.[2]
- The book Blinking Rules & Regulations contains a list of rules for safe blinking, as well as a record of incidents related to property damage from unsafe blinking practices. It goes on for hundreds of pages.

Tips and tactics[]
- This ability removes stuns and roots and grants immunity to both for 0.3 seconds.
- The teleport is stopped by some types of terrain, as well as certain indoor-outdoor boundaries such as cave entrances. Terrain issues can sometimes be avoided by using Blink mid-jump.
- Blinking every time it comes off cooldown averages out to about a 19% run speed increase.
- Blinking while falling will reset your momentum, causing you to fall straight down and restarting your fall damage counter.
- If timed properly, Blinking near the ground at the end of a fall will place you on the ground without taking any fall damage.
Trivia[]
- Blink is a common mage ability in the Trading Card Game. Its flavor text reads: "A well-timed blink can be the difference between a good story and a tearful eulogy."
- This ability has been mentioned in multiple April Fools' Day patch notes:
- Patch 6.0.0 (Evil Patch Notes): "Using the Mage spell Blink will now attract the attention of creepy angel statues. Don't 'Blink.'" This is a reference to the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who.
- Patch 6.1.4 (Evil Patch Notes): "Blink's tooltip has been updated to: 'Teleports the caster directly into the nearest rock, shrub, or fence.' Functionality unchanged."
- Legion Alpha - Patch Note Preview: "Casting Blink will now occasionally cause the Mage to inform nearby players of the current location of the cavalry." This is a reference to Tracer from Overwatch.
