Its ethereal spirit is barely contained by its iron shell. The penultimate creation of Salanar the Horseman, these powerful steeds were once thought to have all been destroyed.

Trivia[]

The model used for this mount was initially announced during Mists of Pandaria as being from a Pet Store item known as the [Iron Hitching Post]. It would have functioned similarly to the [War Party Hitching Post], allowing party and raid members to make their mount appear as an "Iron Warhorse" for a limited amount of time.^[1] However, unlike the cosmetic helmets announced in the same blog post, the Iron Hitching Post was never released. The idea was later incorporated into the the [Nightmarish Hitching Post] and associated [Warforged Nightmare] mount.
- The spell ID for the Iron Warhorse existed unused in the database since patch 5.3.0, until it was ultimately renamed and repurposed as a standalone Timewalking mount.
Within Torghast, Tower of the Damned, the Spectral Bridle item can temporarily teach a player how to become a mount with the same appearance.
