Byfrost is the runeblade of Koltira Deathweaver. During his time in the Scourge, Koltira sated the blade's thirst with the blood of innocents.[1] During the war against the Lich King, it thirsted for the blood of the Lich King and his minions. Koltira asked Horde adventurers to help him etch runes of blood, frost, and shadow on Byfrost in exchange for translating the language of death in the Flesh-bound Tome.[2] Specifically, he asked the heroes to empower the blade with blood from a deranged tuskarr of Indu'le Village,[1] frost essence from the ice revenants at the Mirror of Dawn,[3] and unholy energy from Duke Vallenhal.[4]

- Byfrost may be named after Bifröst, the bridge connecting the land of mortals and the land of gods in Norse mythology.
- It uses the same model as the
