Camp Taurajo was a tauren outpost situated in the Southern Barrens near the mountain pass leading to Mulgore. It could be reached by starting tauren players by following the road east from Bloodhoof Village. It had an inn, a few vendors, some profession trainers and a flight master.
Background
World of Warcraft
Tauren ran this camp, and Jorn Skyseer led it. It lay along the Gold Road, south of Crossroads. The camp was concerned with defending against the encroaching quilboar, and often held captured quilboar prisoners.
Cataclysm
- Main article: Ruins of Taurajo
During the events of Cataclysm, the town was destroyed by the Alliance, in order to secure their offensive against the Horde. The Alliance, expanding from Northwatch Hold under false information that the tauren were planning an attack, had razed Camp Taurajo.[1] Several quest chains do show that General Hawthorne, who led the assault, ordered his men to give the townsfolk an opening in their defensive lines for them to escape. He had also ordered the camp to be firebombed by Wildhammer mercenaries, whether before or after the battle is won stays unknown.[2] Several civilians were killed during the assault, some stated as while defending their home from the Alliance forces.[3] The civilian casualties caused some within the Horde to call the Alliance attack a massacre.[3] For his own part, High Chieftain Baine Bloodhoof acknowledges that Camp Taurajo was a legitimate military target and knows that Hawthorne refused to have its civilians slaughtered.[4] Due to the attack, the way into Mulgore was reinforced with a wall and a gate.[1]
The survivors, along with some of the survivors of Honor's Stand, have fled to Camp Una'fe ("Una'fe", fittingly, means "refuge" in taur-ahe) in the Overgrowth. Some other survivors have sworn vengeance on the Alliance and left for Vendetta Point.
In the RPG
Brann Bronzebeard often suspects that if the threat of the quilboar is ever removed, they may turn their attention toward his people in Bael Modan, threatening the excavation. [5]
