Captain's Documents are the writings in common of the mysterious Defias captain "M", describing their plans to abduct High King Varian Wrynn on his trip to Theramore. It was hidden in the Captain's Footlocker, where Horde spy Thargil found them during a secret mission to find documents with information about Theramore's relations with the rest of the Alliance. Being discovered, however, Thargil threw the footlocker to the seafloor - where a Horde adventurer could later find it and loot the Captain's Documents during 
[15-30] The Theramore Docks in the northeastern-most dock of Theramore.[71.5, 51] The documents were finally brought to Orgrimmar spymaster Nazeer Bloodpike.

I wish you fortune in your journeys. Regrettably, fortune did not favor our first abduction attempt.
When our team made contact with the target in the Stormwind/Ironforge tunnels, they found only a decoy. It appears he showed more wisdom than we accredited him.
But our second plan is already in motion. Defias agents are prepared to intercept the target as he approaches Theramore. Soon Stormwind will feel our bite all too keenly..

- Ironically, Horde cannot read this document, but Alliance can't ever get it. Supposedly, this is a remnant of when the Forsaken could understand and speak Common (in alpha or beta).[citation needed]
