Purging old guides[]

So the vast majority of pages in this category (and many of its subcategories) are, as MyMindWontQuiet put it on Discord, "doomed to remain out of date or useless." Tons of profession and class guides that will go OOD with every expansion, or possibly patch, that nobody has updated since Cataclysm. Guides on roleplaying, and making money, and powerleveling, tips and tricks pages for ridiculous things like "getting your first wand" or just weird stuff like making religious or military guilds. I don't quite want to vote for a blanket purge of everything here just yet like I did with the Gear guides and Economical training subcategories, but I figure a decent first step is this: What pages or categories here do people think are worth keeping?
To start with, an example of my own: we should 100% keep the Secrets subcategory. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:00, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

As a simple editor, and part time Wow player, I can say that a lot of these pages are really not useful. I therefore support the idea of a "purge" but one that is selective, to avoid losing some that may be useful. IMO, all the "Level XX (class) twinking guide" pages should be deleted, same for all the "Wrath dps equipment (mail)/X" pages.WardsJames (talk) 19:32, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
Just skimming through the articles in the top-level category, I say that at least the following should be kept (I assume that it goes without saying that articles like Companion and Machinima are exempt from this discussion):
The maps and instance lists feel like their own thing and not exactly guides, and should at least not be culled. I can see Comparison of Aldor and Scryer rewards, Comparison of Frenzyheart and Oracles rewards, Enchanting reputation rewards, and World of Warcraft terminology having some use. Not sure about Bloodsail Buccaneers reputation guide; it could be useful, but there's a much conciser version on Bloodsail Buccaneers#Reputation. The information on Kurenai reputation guide should be kept but could easily be merged with Kurenai. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 19:57, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
Instance maps (Battle for Azeroth instance maps), Micro dungeon maps, Hub maps, any guide related to Category:Secrets. To name some. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 20:06, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
I think we should keep reputation guides and such but maybe more under their own reputation article rather separately. In addition, I think we should purge Twink guides for example, and such. I am debating if we should remove guides like RP. which most of them if not all are in this category: Maybe on those kinds of pages, we need to check each page. {{Yuvyuv111 (talk) 18:21, 24 April 2023 (UTC)}}
I think it's pretty easy to distinguish between actual guides that should be kept, even if they're out of date (like the instance / micro dungeon map pages, N [60D] Dead Man's Plea because its an actual quest, the pages about Guild, Roleplaying, Instance), and other OOD stuff that no one cared about for more than a decade. I'd personally keep stuff like Instance attunement because it provides interesting historical insights into a time that doesn't exist anymore on Live, but is still relevant in Classic. I'd also keep Content exclusive to flying mounts and most of what the other users, especially DT, already suggested. Xporc (talk) 21:05, 24 April 2023 (UTC)

I've set aside everything that was noted here (I think; correct me if I missed something), split everything else into categories based on the type of guide, and started a series of votes to get rid of them at Forum:Votes to purge OOD guides. I also started a separate vote to get rid of Template:Guides. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 08:25, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
