- Not to be confused with Plague cauldron or Scourge Cauldron.
- "The Cauldron" redirects here. For cauldrons in Alchemy, see Cauldron (alchemy).
The Cauldron is an enormous excavation site in the center of the Searing Gorge. It was fortified some time after Ragnaros was summoned by the Dark Iron dwarves.[1]
It is rimmed by the giant excavation machines of the Dark Iron clan. Many slave laborers captured by the Dark Irons toil away endlessly inside the Cauldron. Driven mad by their masters, the grueling work, and the constant oppressive heat, they will attack anyone interfering with their work in the Cauldron — even potential liberators.[citation needed] In the burning depths of the Cauldron, fire and magma elementals traverse the fiery crevices.
In the RPG[]
The Cauldron is an enormous excavation site. Dark Iron dwarves and their slaves (Ironforge dwarves, gnolls and a few ogres) work the pits and wield the shovels. It is still unknown for what the Dark Irons are digging. Probably titan or Old God artifacts, but it cannot be assured.[2]
Trivia[]
- This area is referenced in one of the human male's jokes, as a parallel to Mount Doom in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. However, in the joke he will say that the Cauldron is in the Burning Steppes rather than the Searing Gorge.
Patch changes[]
- Patch 1.3.0 (2005-03-07): Players will no longer fall through the ground at the Cauldron area of the Searing Gorge.
