The following is a list and information of followers in Legion. They are well-known characters. The followers can be accessed via the Scouting Map in the Order Halls.
Unlike the Warlords of Draenor version, Legion's followers are divided into champions and troops.
Champions[]
Champions are unlocked during your class Order Campaigns. Although it is possible to unlock them all (9 or sometimes 10), only 5 can be initially active. Completing the campaign raises the cap to 6 and researching Tier 7 Order Advancement raises the cap to maximum of 7.
Each champion has unique specialization, abilities, and Equipment Slots. Some can be assigned as Combat Allies which directly help you throughout your journey on the Broken Isles and Argus.
Champions start at level 100 with the common quality and can be upgraded to level 110 and better quality by gaining experience from missions. Better quality unlocks the following bonuses:
- Uncommon - Second champion ability
- Rare - First equipment slot
- Epic - Second equipment slot
- Titled - Third equipment slot
Once the maximum level is reached, item level is shown starting at 760. You can upgrade it to maximum of 950 with [Bulky Armor Set],
[Spiked Armor Set], and
[Invincible Armor Set] items.
With the release of patch 7.3.0 you can easily catch-up with the [Relinquished Armor Set],
[Krokul Armor Set],
[Eredath Armor Set], and
[Xenedar Armor Set] items.
Prior to patch 7.2.0 the [Heavy Armor Set],
[Fortified Armor Set],
[Indestructible Armor Set] items were used to upgrade item levels.

Equipment[]
- Main article: :Category:Champion equipment
Champion armaments and Champion Equipment can be gained with various method; as a reward from world quests, emissary caches, treasure chests on the Broken Isles and Argus, and treasures from [45WQ] Withered Army Training, or from
[Ingram's Puzzle]. They are also a reward from successful missions or by placing work orders opened by researching Tier 3 Order Advancement. Once the maximum level is reached, the work orders will reward Champion Equipment instead. The druid, monk and shaman classes have an advancement for obtaining extra gear.
Except the armaments and equipment, you can use the following items on your followers for various bonuses:
-
- Increases success chance of a single mission by 20%. Can be used on Champions or troops, up to three times per mission.
-
- Restores 1 vitality to the targeted troop.
-
- Additional troops

Troops and upgrades[]
Troops are followers that can be assigned on missions alongside Champions. They are recruited by placing work orders in NPCs in your order hall.
They are divided into lesser (maximum is 3), greater (maximum 2), powerful (maximum 2), and special troops (maximum 1). The cap of lesser and greater troops can be increased by 1 through the Order Advancement.
Tier 4 of the Advancement allows players to upgrade a troop from its common version to an uncommon one.
Tier 5 of the Advancement allows shaman, monks, druids, and death knights to research rare troops.
