Class mounts are unique, special mounts restricted to certain classes. They are usually obtained through long questlines.
History[]
Since Classic, only paladins and warlocks had class mounts, and druids possessed a flight form, with a slow version unlocked at level 20 and a faster version at level 40. Wrath of the Lich King added the death knight which came with both a ground mount at level 55 and a flying class mount at level 60. In Cataclysm, the original quests to gain the paladin and warlock mounts, and the druid's faster flight form, were removed. They are now automatically learned by players of the appropriate level like any other class ability.
Until Cataclysm, all Alliance paladin races used a blue horse, and Horde paladin races used a red horse. Alliance flight form used a purple night elven crow, while Horde flight form was brown. With the expansion, tauren and draenei paladins were given their own mounts instead of using the human horse, and troll and worgen druids were given a unique flight form instead of using the night elven one. Legion added the demon hunter which came with its own class mount, and also gave each class a unique mount in patch 7.2.0. Finally, Battle for Azeroth gave dwarves and dark iron dwarves their own paladin mount as well.
