The Convocation of Silvermoon[1] (also known as the Council of Silvermoon[2]) was the ruling power over Quel'Thalas.

Membership

The Convocation was comprised of seven of the greatest high elf lords; while part of the ruling body, the Sunstriders maintained a modicum of political power as the royal house.[1]

History

The Guardians of Tirisfal

Two thousand and seven hundred years ago, the Magocrats of Dalaran contacted the Council as demons started to appear in the streets of the magical city-state. After dispatching their mightiest wizards to the human lands to investigate, the Convocation's agents concluded that there were only a few demons loose in the world; although, the Legion itself would remain a dire threat so long as humans continued to wield the forces of magic.[2]

The elven lords entered into a secret pact with the Magocrat lords, revealing them the history of ancient Kalimdor and the Burning Legion. Both groups decided to found an order that would fight a never-ending secret war against the invaders from the Nether.[2]

Third War

The Convocation remained on Quel'Danas during the Scourge invasion of Quel'Thalas. Roughly half of them had been murdered near the Sunwell Plateau by the treacherous Dar'Khan Drathir, though Grand Magister Belo'vir was notably absent.[5] The rest of the Convocation was wiped out by Arthas Menethil during the isle's razing, and the Council ceased to rule over the kingdom as the only known living high lord with rights to a seat went on to become the sole leader of the Thalassian people; from then on, they would be known as blood elves.

Speculation

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

However, a certain "unknown council" based in Silvermoon was behind the recent revitalization of the Reliquary, an ancient High Elven order that was crippled following the Scourge invasion.[6] The fact that little to no information on this council has been given outside a Blizzard article on the matter, could imply that said council is serving as the new Convocation from the shadows.
