Cultivation is a passive racial skill known by all tauren, granting them 15 extra points in Herbalism and decreasing the time to pick a herb from 2 to 0.5 seconds. It has no effect if the character does not have Herbalism as one of their two primary professions. The bonus is a flat +15 regardless of the character's Herbalism skill, meaning that tauren herbalists start at 16 (1+15) skill when they learn the profession, and can reach a maximum of 540 (525+15) skill.
Notes
- Cultivation is somewhat quirky in that it increases the skill required to learn each rank of
[Lifeblood] by 15. - Your chance to gain a skill point while picking a herb is based on your base (without Cultivation) Herbalism skill, while the minimum skill required to pick a herb takes Cultivation into account. This means that a tauren player needs the same total Herbalism skill as other players to pick a particular herb, but will continue to gain skill from picking it longer than other players would. For example, if a herb normally requires 100 Herbalism skill to pick and gives skill up to 150 skill, a tauren player would need 100 skill (including Cultivation) to pick it and would continue to gain skill from picking it up to 165 skill.
