Deathstalker Commander Belmont is a Forsaken and the leader of the Deathstalkers, the assassins' guild of the Forsaken.
During the invasion of Gilneas, he was deployed with his agents in the Silverpine Forest, and could be later found in the Shadowfang Keep, where he served as the primary quest giver for Horde adventurers. Following the reclaiming of the Ruins of Lordaeron he, alongside other prominent Forsaken, created a new Desolate Council to serve as the governing body of their people.
History[]
Belmont first appears within Forsaken High Command, having sent Deathstalker Rane Yorick to scout information on the Gilneas Liberation Front's movements within Forsaken territory. Following Yorick's mission compromise and subsequent death at the hands of Ivar Bloodfang, Belmont has her report handed over to the Banshee Queen - revealing an uneasy alliance between the Gilneas Liberation Front and the Bloodfang pack.
Belmont and the Val'kyr Arthura later relocate south to the Forsaken command post in the Ruins of Gilneas, where intensive fighting was going on against the worgen. They leave shortly before a besiegement by the Bloodfang - now also supported by the 7th Legion to Emberstone Village. The two of them and the player fight their way to the corpse of Lord Godfrey, whom Lady Sylvanas has plans for. Arthura and the player make their escape with his corpse, while Belmont remains behind, confident that he can make it back to the basecamp. However, during the flight back, a large number of howling worgen are seen overlooking the lone Belmont.
Despite his apparently grisly fate, Belmont was able to escape his predicament, and following the Forsaken victory in Silverpine is out for revenge - on the treacherous Lord Godfrey, who had shot Lady Sylvanas from behind in his absence. Belmont, along with a regiment of Forsaken Deathguard troopers and blightspreaders, now resides inside Shadowfang Keep, keen to show Godfrey the wrath of the Banshee Queen.
After clearing the dining hall, High Warlord Cromush appears, and "reminds" Belmont that use of the fully powered plague is forbidden. Belmont quickly assures him that this version serves as little more than a worgen repellent, though tells the player that "unsurprisingly" they are not going to pay much heed to Cromush's opinion on the blight, and thanks them for "keeping quiet" about its true potency. He later finds Cromush, who is wounded by Godfrey's poison, and ensures nothing interferes with the battle against Godfrey.
Belmont gives the quests to kill Baron Ashbury, Baron Silverlaine, Commander Springvale, Lord Walden, and Lord Godfrey.
Legion[]
Belmont is seen within the sewers of Dalaran in the secret Hall of Shadows. He is found at the bar talking with Wailing Mary Smitts.
Battle for Azeroth[]
Belmont fought in Darkshore following the War of the Thorns. He first confronted Shandris Feathermoon, Maiev Shadowsong, and an Alliance adventurer at the Ruins of Auberdine, but Maiev slew his forces and drove him off. He later encountered Tyrande Whisperwind herself, now the avatar of the Night Warrior, at the Ashwood Depot. While he taunted Tyrande that the entirety of Darkshore would soon bolster the Forsaken's armies, Tyrande slew Belmont's forces then froze Belmont in place with Elune's magic and left him to rot.[1]
Belmont was later held captive by the Druids of the Branch alongside Master Apothecary Faranell. He was freed by the Horde and participated in the Battle for Darkshore. When the Horde controls Darkshore, he can be found at Bashal'Aran.
Shadowlands[]
Sometime later he joined the Forsaken in mustering in the ruins of the kingdom of Lordaeron, as they sought to reclaim as much as they could of the Tirisfal Glades. Belmont was disdainful and distrustful when Calia Menethil arrived to aid them.[2] Belmont, alongside other influential figures that had risen to prominence among the Forsaken, joined Calia in a meeting to determine their next of course of action.[3] While Lilian Voss wanted to directly focus on dealing with the plague in the Undercity, Belmont questioned what they should do about Calia, only for Dark Ranger Velonara to declare that they should focus on the blight. She then turned to Master Apothecary Faranell and questioned if he had more plague eaters, only for him to reveal to Calia and the others that he only had one left, and that while he could make more for them to be effective, they must be formulated to survive the plague. This in turn inspired Calia to point out that they might be able to turn to the plague-lords of Maldraxxus for insight. When Faranell revealed that he required an undiluted sample of the plague from deep within its reaches, Calia vowed to acquire it for him, but both Faranell and Belmont were skeptical of her being able to acquire it and survive.[4] Calia then called upon the light and with the Maw Walker by her side, she ventured into the plague and successfully acquired the plague sample, which greatly surprised Belmont.[5] With the sample in their possession, Calia, Voss, the champion, and the plague eater went to Maldraxxus.[6]
In time they returned with the empowered plague eater, where Calia informed Faranell of how the blight sample became a living manifestation, to which Faranell was quick to declare it ingenious, as it would be easier to kill.[7] This plan was ultimately successful as the plague manifested as an Amalgam and was slain, liberating the Ruins of Lordaeron from the plague.[8] Following this, Voss declared that the Forsaken have many points of view and should be led by a council, not a single ruler, a motion accepted by the other Forsaken leaders. While Belmont had his reservations about having a Menethil on the council, Calia was quick to declare that she had no desire for a throne, that her place was amongst them, with a vow to serve all their people. Thus a new Desolate Council composing of Voss, Calia, Belmont, Faranell, and Velonara was created to lead the Forsaken.[9] In the aftermath Belmont declared that nothing would stand in the way of the Forsaken and that Calia could continue, as her presence amongst them could be a powerful shield against the worst of the Alliance.
Dragonflight[]
After the Scarlet Crusade forces led by Scarlet Commander Forsythe seized control of Fenris Isle, they used it as a staging ground to strike against the Forsaken within the Ruins of Lordaeron. Belmont led the defense of the southern wall of the Ruins of Lordaeron, where in time he met with Forsaken champions. When questioned as to the Scarlet Crusade's continued existence, considering their many defeats, Belmont explained that while many have given up and joined less fanatical orders, there were those who just wanted to destroy the living dead under the belief that they were abominations meant to be destroyed.[10][11] Belmont then sent them rendezvous with Master Apothecary Faranell and Dark Ranger Velonara at the Sepulcher for their plan of counterattack, while he defended the wall with a few deathguards and dark rangers.[12] After the crusade's defenses on the isle were weakened, he aided in the assault in order show them the might of the Forsaken.[13][14] In the aftermath, Belmont returned to the Ruins of Lordaeron, where he and the other members of the Desolate Council declared that the champion represented what it meant to be Forsaken.[15]
