Djaradin concept

Concept art.

The djaradin are a race of elemental half-giants native to the Waking Shores of the Dragon Isles.

Background[]

According to djaradin folklore, their people were once the first earth giants that roamed the world, shaping the world with their fists; including the Dragon Isles. Four ancient elders enacted an unknown ritual, the process of which is unknown even to the djaradin, but when they emerged from burrowing deep within the earth; they wielded powers of fire and magma. They shared this blessing with the rest of their kind, creating the djaradin as they are known today.[1]

The djaradin lived in the Dragon Isles even before the dragons arrived. When the black dragonflight reshaped the terrain of the Waking Shores to their liking, the djaradin took particular delight in hunting the black dragons down. They became enemies to all dragonkind.[2]

Wielding the power of magma and riding giant lava mammoths, they are ancient enemies of the red dragonflight, whom they hunted in the distant past[3] for sport.[4] The djaradin went to slumber with the rest of the isles after the Great Sundering, but have now reawakened. The red flight—whose duty is to protect life—don't wish to destroy the djaradin completely, only ensure they don't have the power to destroy the isles' ecosystem.[3] When the djaradin woke from their slumber, they chose Neltharus as the point of entry for their attack, they were surprised to find it deserted and quickly laid claim to its secrets for themselves, as well as claiming the rest of the Obsidian Citadel above.[5]

Dragonflight[]

Dragonflight This section concerns content related to Dragonflight.

When Fyrakk broke into the Zaralek Cavern, the Zaqali tribe used this opportunity to find and awaken the Elders from their slumber. The djaradin setup within the Zaqali Caldera around the shrines of the Elders, attempting to rouse each of them from their prison. By the time Ebyssian, Sabellian, and their allies made it to the Caldera, the djaradin already managed to awaken two of the four Elders, while Elder Ignara was still slumbering and Elder Rashok remained missing from his shrine.

Once Fyrakk finished absorbing the shadowflames, he emerged from his wellspring and awakened Elder Igira.

Following the lead of the incarnate, the Zaqali forces returned to the surface where they began raiding caravans in the Ohn'ahran Plains and the Azure Span.

Society[]

Djaradin society is built on strength. The strongest serve as examples for others to fight all the harder.[6] Not all djaradin are interested in attacking adventurers and members of the Dragonscale Expedition, however. Some might just watch them go around, deeming them too weak to be honorable preys.[7]

They are known to bind fire elementals through the use of enchanted rings.[8]

The djaradin gather Inferno Pod seeds when they are just flowering and use them to get their forges to near molten temperatures.[9]

Notable[]

  • Warlord Sargha - leader of the Qalashi djaradin clan
  • Chargath, Bane of Scales - a veteran dragon hunter whose title was given eons ago as a mark of legend.
  • Forgemaster Gorek - one of the djaradin’s most distinguished craftsmen, he now resides in Neltharus where he harnesses the power of a massive forge to construct deadly weaponry.

Tribes[]

Notes[]

  • The djaradin have been described as "perfect dragon killers."[4]
