Duncan Pike is a human knight. While on a mission to deliver orders to a covey stationed at the borders of the Swamp of Sorrows, he was attacked by a large reptile. The beast managed to pin Duncan, but before it could strike a killing blow, an orc lept out of the trees and attacked the beast. Recovering, Duncan and the orc managed to defeat the beast. Duncan was unsure how to react to the wounded orc, but remembering his father's words about judging others by their actions and nothing else, he offered his hand to the orc. Despite not being able to speak each other's language, Duncan and the orc set out for a goblin outpost where they could get aid.[1]
