Earthliving Weapon is a weapon imbue for the shaman's own weapon, designed for healing. It provides a passive bonus to healing spell power, as well as chance for healing spells to trigger a heal over time (HoT) effect on the target healed. It is the standard weapon imbue for restoration shamans, and is learned at level 30. While the healing done by each tick of Earthliving is fairly small, the fact that it is triggered by most healing spells ensures that it contributes a very significant amount of healing over the course of a long fight.
Improvements[]
Notes[]
The passive bonus to healing spell power is a fixed value at each player level. It applies only to healing spells, but is increased by effects that increase spell power by a percentage, such as [Flametongue Totem]. The heal over time effect scales just like any other healing over time spell, meaning it benefits from spell power (including the spell power granted by Earthliving Weapon itself), critical strike chance, restoration mastery, and haste (if you have enough to add additional ticks). The heal over time effect can trigger from any direct healing spell, as well as from each tick of [Healing Rain]. It has a reduced chance per target to trigger from multi-target heals like [Chain Heal] or Healing Rain. With the exception of Healing Rain, it does not trigger from heal over time effects, and so cannot be triggered by itself, [Earth Shield], [Healing Stream Totem], or the heal over time component of [Riptide]. Various non-spell healing effects such as healing potions and [Lifeblood] can trigger the effect, but this is most likely unintended.
The Earthliving heal over time effect has no internal cooldown or target limit, and can be active on any number of targets. A target may only have one Earthliving effect active per shaman, meaning the spell does not stack with itself if it triggers a second time on the same target. It counts as a normal heal over time spell for most purposes, and can trigger most trinkets that can trigger from periodic healing. Each heal cast will then have a chance to trigger Earthliving from either weapon, although a target can only have one Earthliving per shaman.
Unleash Elements[]
When used with [Unleash Elements], Earthliving Weapon triggers [Unleash Life], which heals for a moderate amount and increases the healing done by the next direct healing spell cast within 8 seconds by 30%. In practice, "direct heal" means [Healing Wave], [Healing Surge], [Greater Healing Wave] or Riptide. When used with Riptide, the initial heal will be increased by 30% and the heal over time component will be increased by 15%. Unleash Life affects spells when you finish casting them, so you have to finish casting the spell before the buff wears off for it to benefit. Due to server lag, this means that casting any healing spell with a casting time immediately followed by Riptide will cause both spells to benefit from Unleash Life, as it takes a split second for the buff to disappear after you finished casting the first spell.
Tips and tactics[]
- If you're healing in a group, make sure to always have Earthliving on your weapon, as it provides a significant boost to your healing. Recast it often to ensure it does not expire at a critical moment.
- Unleash Life is generally an increase to your healing-per-mana but a decrease to your healing-per-second. Do not use it during periods of heavy damage unless mana is a problem.
- For best effect, use Unleash Life together with [Chain Heal] or [Greater Healing Wave], immediately followed by [Riptide]. Using Unleash Elements this way whenever it's off cooldown will conserve a lot of mana, as Unleash Elements itself is cheap but can provide a lot of extra healing.
- Unleash Life can be very effective against predictable burst damage. Keep in mind that the buff has a very short duration, making proper timing essential.
