Elder Zhanak was an old orc shaman who had watched over the Stones of Prophecy for decades. He understood the elemental spirits were not peaceful but energetic and not passive but adaptive. He accepted their various moods, knowing there wasn't much he could do about it. He meditated, patiently waiting for the elements to speak to him when they wanted. He was nearly blind, seeing only smudges of light and shadow beyond two arms' length, but his waning senses were not so crippling with the elements as his ally. When Grommash Hellscream arrived to the Stones of Prophecy to verify Garrosh's claims, Zhanak intended to turn the group away. While he showed warmth and respect towards Grom, he was harsh towards Garrosh due to the elemental spirits loathing his presence. Zhanak saw through Garrosh's lies and advised Grom to kill Garrosh before he could upset the fate of the world. Despite this, Grom wanted to see for himself if there was weakness within their people and correct it. Zhanak acquiesced, but insisted that Garrosh stay away from the Stones.
