Elevator bosses are among the deadliest bosses in World of Warcraft, and have been featured in several instances and locations since The Burning Crusade. Unsuspecting players have occasionally been killed by these monstrosities.
Elevator bosses can be found in the following locations:
Open world[]
- Dazar'alor
- Howling Fjord Lifts: Ancient Lift, Excavation Lift, Midwall Lift, Stonewall Lift, Westwind Lift
- Orgrimmar
- Revendreth
- Shattrath City: the elevator to Scryer's Tier does not cause deadly damage unless the player is already on low health, although the one to Aldor Rise can kill a player. However, as many players use flying mounts in Shattrath this is normally not an issue.
- Shattrath City (alternate universe)
- Stormheim: Forsaken elevator in the NW part of the zone
- Thunder Bluff
- Thunder Totem
- Undercity: an unfortunate mistimed entry from the upper part can cause instant death when landing.
Instanced[]
- Serpentshrine Cavern (raid)
- The very first boss of the instance. Strategies include standing on it in time, or the player(s) will take deadly fall damage. This can be avoided by priests using [Levitate] and mages using [Slow Fall]. Paladins can temporarily shield themselves with [Divine Shield] and others with [Hand of Protection].
- Icecrown Citadel (raid)
- Following Valithria Dreamwalker, a deceptively fast-moving elevator takes players down a deep shaft towards Sindragosa.
- Throne of the Tides (dungeon)
- Blackwing Descent (raid)
- One of the deadliest and the third boss of the instance, available after killing Omnotron Defense System and Magmaw. Levitate and Safe Fall should be used with caution as it can cause players to fall into the pit of lava, or aggro Onyxia thus starting the Nefarian's End encounter.
- Mogu'shan Vaults (dungeon)
- Siege of Orgrimmar (raid)
- The 9th boss of the instance, immediately after General Nazgrim, this boss can show up rather suddenly and kill people who are not paying attention.
- Blackrock Foundry (raid)
- 2 different elevator bosses; one to the immediate left of the raid entrance upon entering and the other one is unlocked after killing a couple of bosses.
- Vault of the Wardens (dungeon)
- Antorus, the Burning Throne (raid)
- Immediately before Antoran High Command in the Gaze of the Legion, the elevator platform will squish any players standing underneath it.
