This article contains lore taken from Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

The elven horse is a breed of horse bred by the high elves. According to the elves, generations of breeding have created an animal far superior to its mundane cousins. Each rider is said to be in tune with their horse, so much so that a simple grunt from the animal could alert the rider to danger.[1]

In World of Warcraft?

It's unknown if the elven horse breed is represented in-game.

Even now, some of the blood elves prefer riding horses than hawkstriders.[2] In World of Warcraft a number of high and blood elves ride horses rather than hawkstriders or dragonhawks, most notably the Blood Knights. Lady Liadrin's steed itself is named Redemption.

Horses or unicorns?

The elven Destroyers of Quel'Thalas carry a unicorn crest upon their sails, suggesting a racial connection to these animals. With World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King the high elven Silver Covenant has been shown to ride, at least at times, unicorns called 'Quel'dorei Steeds'. It has been speculated that these unicorns, rather than the horses ridden by other elves, are the unique elven horses. It should be noted that the humans of Dalaran have also been known to ride unicorns. Quel'dorei Steeds are stated to be descended from a lineage of fine horses that once grazed near the shores of the Well of Eternity.[3]
