Patch changes[]

  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-04-07): Execution Sentence's functionality has changed due to it not working in certain situations as expected. The payoff portion of Execution Sentence will no longer receive damage modifiers. To compensate for this, 30% (up from 20%) of the damage you deal during Execution Sentence is now accumulated and dealt as damage when Execution Sentence triggers.
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.7 (2023-03-21):
    • Now causes 20% of the damage you deal to be added to Execution Sentence (was 10%). No longer costs 3 Holy Power.
    • Now 65% effective in PvP combat.
    • Now a choice node with Spell holy blessedresillience [Final Reckoning].
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 9 Retribution talent (was a level 15 Retribution talent). Now deals 10% of damage taken from your abilities (was 20%).
  • Shadowlands Hotfix (2020-11-25): Now has a more pronounced sound.
  • Shadowlands Hotfix (2020-11-19): Initial damage increased by 31%. Damage is unchanged when engaged in combat with enemy players.

  • Shadowlands Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Execution Sentence has been redesigned ā€“ A hammer slowly falls from the sky upon the target. After 8 seconds, they suffer Holy damage, plus 20% of damage taken from your abilities in that time.
Old: A hammer slowly falls from the sky, dealing (2160% of Attack power) Holy damage after 7 sec.
  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.1.0 (2018-12-11): Damage reduced by 25% when engaged in combat with enemy players.
  • Legion Hotfix (2017-01-17): Execution Sentence damage reduced by 15%.
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Redesigned as a level 15 Retribution talent (was a level 90 ability for all paladins): A hammer slowly falls from the sky, dealing (1445% of attack power) Holy damage after 7 sec.
Old: A hammer slowly falls from the sky, causing Holy damage over 10 sec. Damage increases over time, culminating in a final burst. Dispelling the effect triggers the final burst. On a friendly target, the falling hammer heals the target over 9 sec. This healing is a large burst at first, and then decreases over time.
  • Warlords of Draenor Hotfix (2015-07-07): Execution Sentence now heals for 25% less in PvP combat.
  • Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.1.0 (2015-02-24): Healing dealt by Stay of Execution has increased by 100%.
