Fan of Knives is a level 19 Assassination rogue ability.
Trivia[]
- This ability's name is a reference to the Warden ability of the same name.
- Fan of Knives is a basic Rogue spell in Hearthstone. The flavor text reads: "I wouldn't say I LOVE knives, but I'm definitely a fan."
- Fan of Knives is one of Maiev's basic abilities in Heroes of the Storm.
Patch changes[]
Hotfix (2022-10-31): Fixed an issue that caused the Fan of Knives animation to not display properly on Tauren and Highmountain Tauren rogues. - Patch 9.1.5 (2021-11-02): No longer maximum target capped and instead deals reduced damage beyond 8 targets.
- Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Now capped at 8 targets. Now learned at level 19 (was 63).
- Hotfix (2018-10-05): The Fan of Knives radius increase granted by [Flying Daggers] and [Fan of Blades] no longer stack.
- Patch 7.2.5 (2017-06-13): Fan of Knives damage increased by 40%.
- Hotfix (2017-02-03): Damage increased by 4%.
- Patch 7.1.0 (2016-10-25): Now learned at level 63 (was 66).
- Hotfix (2016-09-23): Fan of Knives damage increased by 30%.
- Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): No longer available to Subtlety.
- Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Now always applies poisons and generates a combo point. No longer available to Combat rogues.

- Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Now also has a chance of applying active poisons at their normal rate. Awards 1 combo points if it strikes the current combo target. Now learned at level 66 (was 80).
- Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Now deals damage based on your equipped throwing weapon, instead of your melee weapons.
- Patch 3.2.2 (2009-09-22): The damage done by this ability has been reduced by 30%, and Throwing Specialization no longer causes Fan of Knives to interrupt spellcasting.
- Patch 3.0.8 (2009-01-20): The cooldown has been removed. In addition, now deals 150% of weapon damage when used while daggers are equipped.
- Patch 3.0.3 (2008-11-04): Changed to be castable with no targets, further improved the visual affect and it no longer plays an impact on the caster. Now benefits correctly from the [Find Weakness] talent.
