Human farm[]

Producing needed sustenance, these sites were a vital part of any community. Farms produced grains and foodstuffs to feed not only the populace and peasants, but the armies as well.[1]

Orc farm[]

Main article: Farm (WC1 Orc)

Farms produced the grains and animals needed to keep the encampment and the army well fed.[2]

While they are not strictly described as pig farms, the orcish farms of the First War were already probably offering an ample amount of boar meat to the troops of the Orcish Horde.

Farms were a vital part of the many communities in Lordaeron. Producing various grains and foodstuffs, farms not only generated sustenance for peasants and workers, but for the armies as well. The overall amount of food produced from a town's farms was vital to the number of new workers or soldiers that the community could accommodate.[3] The stallions carrying knights into battle were also known to contribute precious fertilizer for the bountiful farms about Lordaeron.[4]

Beginning in Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, orcish farms became known as pig farms to distinguish them from their human counterpart.

Farm

Vital to any human Village, the Farm provides sustenance for troops and citizens. The uncanny ability of these skilled farmers to harvest almost any landscape under the harshest conditions is highly regarded in the lands of Lordaeron. The number of troops sustainable at any village is dependent upon the amount of land harvested by the small farms.[5]

A common tactic, when playing humans, to prevent the enemy from easily destroying defensive towers was to place farms in front of them so that any enemy melee units would have to first destroy the farms to get to the tower. This is humorously referenced by Topper McNabb.

High elven and blood elven farm[]

Many high elven farms dotted Quel'Thalas when Arthas and the Scourge tried to attack their capital city of Silvermoon in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. They produced a high quantity of food and had a unique design not seen anywhere since, not even in Eversong Forest. These farms couldn't be built by the High elf worker unit likely due to the limited ability of the map editor prior to the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne expansion. With the addition of The Frozen Throne expansion's map editor, it is possible to make additional groups with building orders.

The blood elves could also build farms during Curse of the Blood Elves campaign in The Frozen Throne but these had the same design and food quantity as the human ones.

Farms are one of the most numerous buildings in the game, considering their design is often the base for the simple houses of each race. As such, human farms of the Third War are of the same design as normal human and Forsaken houses. Besides houses, farms can also be pumpkin patches, orchards, vineyards, plantations, ranches, stables and pig farms, depending on what they produce.

Players can get their own farm in Pandaria, called Sunsong Ranch.
