First Squadron Prototypes are bombers used by the Gnomish Elite Aerial Rangers during the Heritage of Gnomeregan questline. They represent the latest innovations in flying machine technology and are powered by a Prototype Arcane Engine.^[1]

Two prototypes are first seen at the Fizzcrank Airstrip in the Borean Tundra for [50-70] A Tundra Conundrum. During [50-70] Now With More Mechanical Fowl, the G.E.A.R. Commander is tasked with calibrating one of the the bombers' prototype guns by using it against the Ironbound threatening the airstrip. During [50-70] A Signal in Storm Peaks, the members of G.E.A.R. fly the prototypes to the Foot Steppes in the Storm Peaks, before later relocating with them to the Terrace of the Makers at the end of [50-70] Gnomercy!. During [50-70] Operation: Troggageddon, after Fizzi Tinkerbow has finished installing the guns on the flying machines, Cog Captain Winklespring and the G.E.A.R. Commander jump into one of the prototypes and use them to destroy Telzo Sparkspanner's army outside Ulduar. Finally, during [50-70] For Gnomeregan!, the members of G.E.A.R. fly the planes into the Halls of Stone for the confrontation with Sparkspanner.

Standard Issue Bomber Gun — Start up the bomber gun, dealing damage periodically to enemies in front of the flying machine.
Buster Cannon Mk. II — Fire Mekkatorque's patented Buster Cannon at the target location, instantly obliterating enemies.
