Event templates

Template:Battle for Broken Shore and Template:Battle for Lordaeron are not needed; they're just content restricted to a quest scenario that even the quest is still available to do. A simple adding them to the category should be sufficient enough. These kinds of templates should be restricted to one-time events (like the pre-patch events) or world events.

  3. YesEithris (talk) 18:52, 26 February 2021 (UTC) - (i always have a moment of confusion when seeing these because they look exactly like limited-time event templates. also they take up room on pages without, imo, good reason)
  4. Yes Ryon21 (talk) 19:39, 26 February 2021 (UTC) - (I think this one can go as it doesn't add much and has very little use.)
  5. Yes HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 09:40, 27 February 2021 (UTC) - (Sounds good, the WoD intro zone (Tanaan) doesn't have it so its equivalents in the form of scenarios probably don't need it.)

Article type templates: RTS

This vote concerns the usage of our RTS templates: {{Warcraft I}}, {{Warcraft II}}, {{Warcraft III}}, and {{Warcraft III Reforged}}. Let's reduce the usage of these kinds of templates, especially for content that are exclusively about such content. I've provided examples below, but if there are some examples good/bad I may have missed, please comment.

Examples not to use it,

Examples to use it,

  • Flowerpicker clan, before Warlords, this content was exclusively just Warcraft II. I think it is a nice explanation where it was from.
  • Balor because we only have seen this in WC2, it makes sense. Though, I think someone could maybe argue it isn't really needed.
  • Creep good example; mob is the World of Warcraft term. Though to think of it, isn't this term used in previous RTS games like WC2?
  • Files. This is the single most used case where these kinds of templates should be used. Is it a picture from anything Warcraft III related, slap that template on it!

  2. No Ryon21 (talk) 19:39, 26 February 2021 (UTC) - (I understand what you mean, but at the end of the day these articles are specifically for that game, so I think they are good to keep. Unless there is a better solution.)
  3. No HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 09:40, 27 February 2021 (UTC) - (It seems like an okay thing to have and use to distinguish WoW and pre-WoW games in general. It provides a quick info where the article is from at the start of the reading for articles without the W3 XYZ parenthesis without the need to move to the bottom of the page to see Patch changes section.)

i know it’s been floating around as an idea for... a while now & still no one’s found the time/motivation to actually do it, but where would missions fall on this if they had their names simplified where possible? e.g. “Twilight of the Gods (WC3 NightElf)” to just “Twilight of the Gods” —Eithris (talk) 18:52, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Probably keep it in terms of the proposal. But imo, not really needed, can just update the lead section to state from what "[...] Eternity's End in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.". My main question is why are we separating the lore out from WoW when our main focus is the lore. We shouldn't need a template to indicate this, could just update lead sections or references to state it. — Surafbrov T / P / C 19:02, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
Here for references, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. Night elf chapter 7: "Twilight of the Gods".Surafbrov T / P / C 19:06, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
kk. i was thinking it might be worth leaving the template in if the articles didn’t have “WC3” in their names, but yeah, you make a good point about just putting this kind of thing in the lead section —Eithris (talk) 22:09, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

About the RTS, above says what I think, but to comment something. Maybe we could add instead the RTS icon next to the name in the infobox? At least for the pages that have one. That's a way to keep everyone happy as it would get rid off the amount of RTS used, and also keep the icon to which game the page specifically belongs to which is the main reason to have these templates. RTS icon as in like the faction icon used on NPC articles? — Surafbrov T / P / C 20:07, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
Yep, exactly. --Ryon21 (talk) 20:33, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
