Forums: Village pump → Expansion tags for 2-3 sentences of content

This is excessive. Honestly, I've been tired of the expansion-section tags for a while now. I'd prefer to get rid of them all. If we must call out expansion-specific stuff, let's use ==sections==, but even that is a bit much. --Kaydeethree (talk) 04:02, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

You'll get no argument from me. They may have made some sense back when they were first implemented with TBC and there was some question about keeping things separate, but there's really no such thing as expansion-exclusive content anymore; the number of people who don't buy the most recent one is vanishingly small, and everything earlier than that has been rolled into the free trial anyway. To say nothing of it being absolutely silly for lore rather than gameplay content. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 04:20, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
Yea, expansion-exclusive content isn't really a thing here now except for the latest expansion. Though the one needle I have about this is Retail vs Classic. What if someone wants to know what lore/content it was just from Vanilla to Wrath (since TBC/Wrath Classics are possible) but we no longer have these tags to separate this stuff? — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 07:26, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
I don't mind using, they can be some kind of an additional and quick indicator for in which expac something happened, including story, but I don't mind getting rid of them either, since the text should also make it clear when something happened. They are often in Quotes which also tend to have section header with that expansion name. HordeRace bloodelf male Mordecay (talk) 09:50, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
I think they can be slightly useful for quickly showing where certain information is taken from similar to {{novel-section}} or {{comic-section}}, but I guess that should already be clear from the text and references in most cases. I won't protest if everyone else wants to see them removed. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 13:28, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
I like using them, to give a clear pointer to what happened when, and in which order. PeterWind (talk) 16:02, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

Okay, this is ridiculous. — SurafbrovWowpedia administrator T / C 22:54, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

Well, those that have bigger icons look nicer and tend to be placed on the top of a page. If there are more than one that fit there, then I guess they don't have to be there, just add (if any) related categories. HordeRace bloodelf male Mordecay (talk) 23:37, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
