Most article infobox templates contain a parameter known as image=. To add an image into those simple add |image= <file>.jpg (or png, gif, whatever the file type is).

To add a picture in general use [[File:<filename>.<filetype>|thumb|<optional description>]] . For more information see Help:Image.
