The garden in Classic.

The royal garden area[1] (or courtyard)[2] of Stormwind Keep is found to the left when entering the throne room. Stormwind citizens make good use of the gardens, but Mathias Shaw thinks it's a dangerous place, and asked Varian and Anduin to take some precautions about it. However, neither of the two kings gave credit to the concerns of the Spymaster.[3]

The entrance to the Royal Library is here, and the ledges overlook the Stormwind City Outskirts, where the Eastern Earthshrine can be seen.

History[]

WoW Icon update This section concerns content related to the original World of Warcraft.

Tyrion used his spybot, appearing as Priestess Tyriona, to spy on Lord Gregor Lescovar in the garden. Gregor met with Marzon the Silent Blade and was exposed to be working with the Defias Brotherhood. Tyrion and an Alliance adventurer killed them both.[4]

Cataclysm This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

After the Cataclysm, Cenarion Emissary Jademoon opened a portal in the garden to the Moonglade.

Legion This section concerns content related to Legion.

During a ceremony in honor of King Varian after the Battle for Broken Shore, a Burning Legion portal was opened here but quickly destroyed. The area was defended by the royal guard during the attack.[2] During the Legion's third invasion, the garden was tainted by fel magic and overrun by the Veiled Hand's fanatics and witnessess led by the traitor Melris Malagan. Garona Halforcen tried to kill him, but failed. He then tried to open a Legion portal but was soon killed by the Uncrowned's newest Shadow. As a reward, Garona gave the Shadow her daggers.[5]

Battle for Azeroth This section concerns content related to Battle for Azeroth.

During the War of the Thorns event, Portal to Astranaar was briefly placed here.

Later during the Fourth War, the Greymane family had a meeting here. They were guarded by Greyguard‎s.
