The Gnarlpine tribe[1][2] was a corrupted furbolg tribe that dwelled atop the great world tree of Teldrassil. Though originally peaceful,[3] the insidious effects of [Fel Moss] caused the Gnarlpines to go berserk and attack their former allies, the night elves. Apart from living in Gnarlpine Hold and their other traditional villages in the south and west of Teldrassil, the Gnarlpines also invaded Ban'ethil Barrow Den and Starbreeze Village, driving out or slaying the local inhabitants.
The most dangerous of these corrupted feral beasts included Ferocitas the Dream Eater, Ursal the Mauler, and Uruson. They were led by Ursal[2][4] and Ferocitas.
After the Cataclysm, their corruption returned.[2] As the tribe made their home exclusively on Teldrassil, assuming they were not already wiped out by the night elves, the destruction of the world tree would have seen the tribe's end.

In the RPG[]
In Teldrassil one can find a few camps of furbolgs and wildkin. Unlike their cousins in the rest of Kalimdor, the ones here are uncorrupted but can nevertheless be dangerous. Despite this, the night elven Starbreeze Village became overrun by corrupted furbolg, an indication of the demonic infection that bleeds into Teldrassil.[5]
Notes[]
- According to Rexxar, the furbolgs turned hostile because they were unprotected from the Void corruption that festered in Teldrassil's roots,[6] seemingly referring to the Emerald Nightmare.
