The Gnomeregan Covert Ops (Gnomeregan Covert Operations)[1] is a gnomish organization dedicated to special operations, often of a clandestine nature, in service to the gnomish nation and the Alliance. Emerging in the wake of the Cataclysm, they have since played a part in many operations to secure gnome and dwarf lands from ever-increasing threats, especially in Dun Morogh.
The Covert Ops mostly employ skilled technicians and rogues. Outside the home front, they also take part in larger Alliance military operations in distant territories, particularly against the Horde.
Background[]
Cataclysm[]
A team was sent to Steelgrill's Depot to deal with the Frostmane trolls in Frostmane Retreat.[2] The chief of the ops asked Delber Cranktoggle to build a device to dispatch personnel quickly and quietly to any corner of Dun Morogh. He thus created Ultrasafe Personnel Launcher.[3] Delber's technicians also prepared an aerial attack of the troll settlement.[4]
Kelsey Steelspark later went to Tanaris, representing Gnomeregan in trade negotiations with the port of Gadgetzan. Along with Alliance agents, she worked against the pirates of Lost Rigger Cove to earn the favor of the Baron of Gadgetzan, Marin Noggenfogger. A large group of Bilgewater goblins shipwrecked on Land's End Beach was also dealt with, and any valuable salvage recovered for Gnomeregan.[5]
Siege of Orgrimmar[]
Gnomeregan Operatives were part of the Alliance army that infiltrated the Underhold under Orgrimmar during the Siege of Orgrimmar.
Legion[]
The Covert Ops were among the forces defending Dun Morogh during the demonic Legion Invasions. Some were captured at the Frostmane Retreat. Kelsey Steelspark herself would later join the Uncrowned as they waged war on the Burning Legion from the Broken Isles.
Battle for Azeroth[]
The Gnomeregan Covert Ops sent a team of three agents to assist Shandris Feathermoon and Halford Wyrmbane in Vol'dun against the Horde Reliquary. Kelsey joined the elite squad led by Wyrmbane, and they were successful in disrupting the blood elves' operations in the region.

- The Covert Ops have an air wing which they use for air support and bombardment.[7]
- Though presumably unrelated, the gnome Gaxim Rustfizzle once gave the "Covert Ops" quests [22] Covert Ops - Alpha and [22] Covert Ops - Beta in Stonetalon Mountains.
