This trade route is named for the trade caravans that travel regularly along the highway. Officially, the section of the road that bears the name, Gold Road begins at the [[Great Lift]] at the southern end of the [[Barrens]], and ends at the [[Mor'shan Rampart]] to the north. However, the road is travelled by traders and adventurers alike, hailing from regions as distant as [[Gadgetzan]] in [[Tanaris]] Desert and [[Auberdine]] in [[Darkshore]], and [[Nighthaven]] in the north.

Not to be confused with Golden Road.
Goldroad

The Gold Road.

The Gold Road runs north-south from Mor'shan Rampart to the Great Divide. Prior to the Cataclysm the road continued south, to a bridge connecting the northern and southern half of the Barrens. South of the bridge, the road was called the Southern Gold Road.

The believed ancient highway.

Removed from game The subject of this section was removed from World of Warcraft in patch 4.0.3a.

The following details traveling the Gold Road prior to the Cataclysm:

  • Starting from north, you'll be at the Mor'shan Rampart and the Mor'shan Base Camp. Further south will be a road heading east towards Durotar. Then carry on going south along the road and arrive at Crossroads where you cross the East-West road (Ratchet to Honor's Stand). Carry on south and you'll pass two oasis' and Wailing Caverns. A little while later you'll come across a dried-up river which creates a "border" between North and South Barrens. Here also will be Mankrik's Wife, which is a quest target.
