Gorak Zhar was the leader of the Drust attacking Ardenweald and served as the final antagonist of the launch experience of the Ui sigil nightfae [Night Fae Campaign]. She is a nightscreamer.

History[]

While the details are unknown, Zhar had interacted with Thornspeaker Kivarr enough to the point of the latter was able to recognize her by voice.[2] Like other Drust, Zhar sided with Gorak Tul in the War against the Drust, which saw the fallen Drust residing within Thros, the Blighted Lands, Gorak Zhar among them.

Years later Gorak Zhar ordered the Drust to invade Ardenweald. During this invasion, Drust were able to permanently possess the Night Fae as a result of Gorak Zhar's power.[3] She personally led the Drust in attacking Hibernal Hollow but had her forces retreat following the twin deaths of Lorkron and Fulyar the Destroyer.[4]

When the Maw Walker attempted to imbue a Drust Fetish with the power of Gorak Tul at Gol Inath, in order to break her curse, Gorak Zhar tried and failed to arrange their death via a Drust Behemoth.[5] After the Winter Queen learned that the Drust curse was impossible to break, she vowed that Gorak Zhar would pay dearly for the wound inflicted upon Ardenweald.[6]

As part of the Drust gambit to attack the Grove of Awakening, the captured Ara'lon was bent to Gorak Zhar's will. The Drust used their magic to make it seem as if Ara'lon was Gorak Zhar, which caused the Wild Hunt to focus their attention on the Darkeach. While the Wild Hunt battled Durst in the Darkeach, Gorak Zhar led her forces claiming the Grove of Awakening. Unbeknownst to Zhar and her forces, when Ara'lon was mortally wounded it broke the Drust hold over him, and he revealed their ruse.[7]

As Gorak Zhar attempted to seize control of the Grove of Awakening, she was confronted by the Winter Queen and her allies. Gorak Zhar mocked the Winter Queen and declared that the Drust would claim every grove, every fae, and every soul. However, these taunts had no effect on the Winter Queen, who instead admitted that she noted that that the Drust could have been protectors of nature and thus almost pitied them for choosing to steal and destroy. In response, Gorak Zhar rejected this pity and taunted her about the Heart of the Forest being destroyed. Unmoved by this taunt, the Winter Queen and the Maw Walker reclaimed the grove's magic and disposed of Gorak Zhar. With her dying breath, Zhar declared that the Drust will never be vanquished.[1]
