Gorribal

Gorribal in Shadows & Light.

WorldofWarcraftRPG logo
This article contains information from the Warcraft RPG which is considered non-canon.

Gorribal the Dark Seether is a sword that was forged from one of the two Shatterbound fragments of Gorshalach. Wielded by Sargeras, this weapon embodies the darkness that exists in all beings, even noble ones. If this weapon is ever combined with the other fragment, which has been reforged into Taeshalach, then Gorshalach will be reborn, although this can only be done by a non-evil being.[1]

Notes[]

  • In canonical lore, the Sword of Sargeras was never given a name. It also looks physically different from Gorribal, and the non-canonical RPG's origins are contradicted, as in canon, Sargeras and Aggramar's weapons were always different, separate blades that shattered each other in a duel when Sargeras betrayed the Pantheon.[2]

Speculation[]

Questionmark-medium
This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.
  • Since Aggramar's sword is still named "Taeshalach" in canon,[3] the names "Gorribal" and "Gorshalach" could eventually find their way into canon as well. There is a trinket called Inv sword 1h firelandsraid d 01 [Gorshalach's Legacy].
  • In The War Within, a enemy named Shard of Gorribal can be fought during a Worldsoul Memory event, which would make it the first named reference in World of Warcraft.
