Hauteur is one of the fire elementals of Azuremyst Isle. He has gone insane as a result of the Exodar's crash-landing on Azuremyst, and he now demands that the local owlbeasts worship him as a god and burn effigies in his honor. One such effigy can be found at Moonwing Den on Silvermyst Isle.
Previously, the fire elemental Temper tasked young shaman with saving Hauteur—by killing him. Thus, the fallen elemental could be born from his ashes anew. Temper would also allow the shaman to keep some of Hauteur's ashes for use in creating a [Fire Totem].

Notes and trivia[]
- Hauteur is summoned by using the
[Ritual Torch] to burn the Wickerman Effigy on Silvermyst Isle. Since the related quest is no longer obtainable, there are likely very few (if any) players who still have this item.
- According to Zekhan, Nobundo told him stories from draenei that saw Hauteur. Hauteur lived on Silvermyst Isle, and his clever friend, Temper, convinced the local moonkin to worship his as their loa. Eventually, Hauteur sought the help of the Alliance to stop Temper's delusions. They killed the elemental, forcing him to be reborn again from his ashes.[1]
- This is in conflict with what happened in the game. Possible explanations might be that Blizzard mixed up the names. It is also possible that, in-universe, the information that Zekhan received is inaccurate as he specifically says "If the stories are true". Alternatively, this story could refer to Hauteur that was reborn during the questline, and that Temper's betrayal and death happened afterward off-screen, meaning that there would be a cycle of Hauteur and Temper controlling the moonkin.
- Hauteur is French for "arrogance."
