A Name
"Copy/paste quest portrait text here. The quest portrait is the box that sometimes appears on the side of the quest log; most quests don't have it. In place of the model shown in-game, use a standard screenshot."

Bring some items to some person in some place.

or

Some person in some place wants you to kill some people.

Description

Through my divinations, I see that an item of power hides deep within the Burning Blade Coven, guarded by beasts and black magic.

It is called the Burning Blade Medallion, and your next task is to find it and remove it from the coven.

But be wary, for the medallion may be possessed by an agent of the Burning Blade, and if so then the agent's power would be greater than the familiars you have already encountered.

Go, <name>. You will find the coven in a cave, to the north and west.

Rewards

Use this section to describe rewards from the quest: items, money, xp, reputation, achievements.

All the usual external links seem reliable on material rewards.

For choices or multiple rewards, use a list, e.g.

You will be able to choose one of these rewards:
Inv staff 18.png [The Great Stick of Death] Inv tinfoil hat.png [Tinfoil Hat]

List all non-choice rewards+items in a bulleted list:

You will also receive:

If there are no item choices offered, say "You will receive:" instead of "You will also receive:"

Progress

What does the NPC say when you talk to him when you're not done with the quest yet? This information can sometimes be found on Wowhead. Note that not all quests have progress text, or progress text that can be parsed by websites.

Completion

How does the NPC congratulate you when you're done with the quest? This information can commonly be found on Wowhead.

Notes

Use this section for such things as the location of relevant NPCs or mobs, how to locate quest items, things useful to know in order to complete the quest.

Include any NPC dialogue here, whether spoken or when interacted with, if it is relevant to the quest. Be certain to note the circumstance, such as whether it's after accepting or completing a quest.

For scenario-based quests, list each stage/phase of the scenario as a level 3 heading in this Notes section. For example: === Stage 1: For the Light! ===

For details about the quest, like the geographic coordinates of an NPC, consider including that information in the NPCs article. Also, be sure to create links out of pronouns, like items, names, places, and quests mentioned in the quest text.

Not every quest needs a Notes section. Feel free to omit it.

Progression

Template:MacGuffin quest chain

Use this section to describe prerequisites, and follow-up quests. Use a template that defines the quest progression, like {{MacGuffin quest chain}}. You should

  1. create a template that describes the quest chain (like: "Template:MacGuffin quest chain". Do not use "Quest:Example quests/chain" or similar)
  2. put everything but the quest progression sequence within noinclude tags

See the Quest chain templates category for examples of this.

Simply link to the quest (like [[First Quest]], not {{quest|First Quest}} or {{questlong|Neutral|85|First Quest}}) in the quest progression template.

Quest chains where some parts can be completed in any order can be described:

  1. First Quest
  2. Do these in any order:
    • Component A Quest
    • Component B Quest
  3. Roundup Quest

or

  1. First Quest
  2. Components in Any Order
    • First component series
    1. First of First Component
    2. Second of First Component
    • Second Component Series
    1. First of Second Component

Patch changes

In chronological order, latest patches on top, list the changes that have been made to the quest through patches. There should always at least be an "Added" line. Use {{Patch x.y.z|note=Added.}}.
