Be sure to spend rage on keeping 5 sunders, [[Thunder Clap]], shouts, and other [[debuff]]s on a [[mob]] before starting to use Heroic Strike on a it, and make sure to save enough rage to use cooldown abilities like [[Shield Block]], [[Revenge]], [[Spell Reflection]], etc. |

Many dedicated Warrior tanks take [[Improved Heroic Strike]] in the Arms talent tree to reduce the rage cost of Heroic Strike, along with Focused Rage in the Protection Tree, increasing greatly the value and functionality of Heroic Strike as an efficient way to dump rage and generate threat along with instant attacks such as Revenge, Shield Slam, Sunder Armor, and Devastate. |

- A warrior's blade finds its mark as much by will as by skill.
Heroic Strike is the very first warrior ability you receive. It replaces your next attack and deals weapon damage + some value, based on its rank. Due to its flat addition, attack replacement, and Rage cost, this is an ability suited towards users of high speed weapons and dual-wielders, as the attack itself generates no Rage.

Notes
The regular attack that Heroic Strike enhances generates no rage. If your melee timer comes up while this is active and there are no targets, you must reactivate this ability. No Rage is expended if Heroic Strike is parried or dodged. Rage is expended if Heroic Strike hits or is blocked.
Talent improvement
- [Impale]: Increase critical strike damage.
- [Improved Heroic Strike]: Reduces the rage cost of this ability. Builds that focus on fast weapons and quick rage generate will find this useful.
- [Focused Rage]: Reduces the rage cost of all offensive abilities. Again, useful for builds that focus on fast weapons. Note that this ability stacks with Improved Heroic Strike, meaning with both talents, Heroic Strike is a measly 9 rage.
Tips and Tactics
As the warrior's first ability, this ability is used constantly during the first few levels – mostly because you have few other options to spend your rage.
However, as more skills are learned, Heroic Strike's weaknesses become more apparent. First, heroic strike costs 15 rage, and a successful Heroic Strike attack does not generate rage. As a result, the actual cost of Heroic Strike is 15 rage + the rage generated on a successful autoattack. For a 1-handed weapon this may only amount to around 20 rage, but for a slow 2-handed weapon this can amount to Heroic Strike costing 25 rage (a quarter of a Warrior's rage bar) or more.
When tanking, this ability is not as useful as [Devastate] or [Sunder Armor] due to its lower natural threat value, its removal of rage generation from normal attacks, and being tied to your weapon's swing timer. However, burning extra rage generated while tanking on Heroic Strike (especially if your rage bar is nearing 100% full) will result in a significant increase in threat per second. Be sure to spend rage on keeping 5 sunders, [Thunder Clap], shouts, and other debuffs on a mob before starting to use Heroic Strike on a it, and make sure to save enough rage to use cooldown abilities like [Shield Block], [Revenge], [Spell Reflection], etc.
In addition, Heroic Strike does not activate the global cooldown and can therefore be used at the same time as another attack. Many dedicated Warrior tanks take [Improved Heroic Strike] in the Arms talent tree to reduce the rage cost of Heroic Strike, along with Focused Rage in the Protection Tree, increasing greatly the value and functionality of Heroic Strike as an efficient way to dump rage and generate threat along with instant attacks such as Revenge, Shield Slam, Sunder Armor, and Devastate.
If in a group but not performing a tanking role, Heroic Strike should not be used too often due to the bonus threat the ability generates. Give priority to other attacks and use Heroic Strike sparingly.
To make a better use of the Heroic Strike bonus on Rank 10, Heroic Strike should be used after [Piercing Howl], so you can make extra damage on that target taking benefits of the dazzled effect on the target.
